HACT and UK Housing Fast discuss food poverty and the role of social housing

Join HACT and UK Housing Fast for a free webinar on food poverty

On Friday 8th June, between 11am-12pm, HACT is hosting a webinar with our partners at UK Housing Fast, about tackling food poverty in the UK and how social housing providers are well placed to take part in this fight. The webinar will be led by Barry Malki, HACT’s Head of Communities, and Sahil Khan, Head of Community Investment at Southern Housing, who is one of the founders of the UK Housing Fast.

The UK Housing Fast is taking place on Wednesday 6th June, and encourages employees working in Social Housing to take a Plate Pledge. Participants write their Pledge on paper plates - for example, this might be a pledge to fast on the 6th June, or to donate to their local food bank. Participants then share their Pledge on twitter using the hashtag #UKHousingFast, as a way to push food poverty higher up the agenda.

Following on from this day of action on Wednesday 6th June, HACT is running a webinar to keep the problem of food poverty in the spotlight, and to explore the role housing associations can play in combating this issue. In addition to Sahil, we will be joined by guest speakers from leading food poverty charities, who have personal experiences of good practice within housing associations, as well as in the wider area.
