Self Help Housing Briefing event - London

Funding has been made available via DCLG for a £100m Empty Homes Programme and a significant element will be ring fenced specifically for community led housing organisations.

In order to ensure that this programme is as widely promoted as possible and to help organisations in bidding, Tudor Trust are funding HACT and Self-Help Housing.Org to run a capacity building programme aimed at maximising take-up.

As part of a Capacity Building Programme around the CGP, HACT & Self-Help Housing.Org are running a series of Briefing Events, aimed at helping community-led-organisations with bidding and securing allocations.

These regional events will be free of charge and will provide an opportunity to find out as much as possible about the way in which the programme will work and the arrangements for bidding. Among the issues to be covered will be:

  • information as to the properties that will be eligible for funding;
  • the basis on which grants will be calculated;
  • issues around rents;
  • nomination requirements;
  • local authority support;
  • and information on how you can bid.

How to register

To register interest in attending a briefing session, please email linda.masetti@hact.org.uk with your name, role, organisation, contact details and access and dietary requirements.

There are limited places available and they will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. We will send you an email response to confirm your place.

Online resources

To supplement the regional workshops, in particular for people unable to attend, we will be posting a recorded version of the workshop online at the end of January. This will be available on the HACT website at www.hact.org.uk/self-help-housing-webinar

There will also be a webinar session on Wednesday 1 February, between 3 - 5pm for those people unable to attend any of the briefings, or who have follow up questions from their briefing session or application process.

This will take place at www.hact.org.uk/self-help-housing-webinar, via a conference chat system, and participants will not need to register, and will easily be able to ask questions directly to Jon Fitzmaurice.
