THE chief executive of Halton Housing Trust is leading a marathon effort to help some of the most vulnerable people in society.
Nick Atkin and his team are being sponsored to run 26.2 miles in the London Marathon on Sunday, April 22.
All money raised will go to HACT – a national charity that works with affordable housing providers to meet the needs of society’s most vulnerable and marginalised people.
Nick said: “It is a worthy cause and obviously one that is dear to my heart. The trust is dedicated to improving communities across Halton and HACT shares these same values.”
It is the third year running that Nick and his team, which includes other Halton Housing Trust employees, have pounded the streets to raise money for charity, but this is their first full marathon.
Previous fundraising has been limited to half marathons and other shorter distances.
Nick has already exceeded his original £2,000 fundraising target. He is now aiming to generate even more support for the charity.
